It has been a while since I have reviewed movies we have watched. There have been a lot of good movies this past year and we've seen quite a few.
Alice in Wonderland
Big Man took Princess to see this movie before Chumlee was born. We have seen it a few times since it has been out on video. Once we caught it on a free movie weekend on TV. To be honest, I have never made it completely through the movie (i know some of you might find that hard to believe). The parts that I have seen were good. It was a bit "dark." Kind of like the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that Johnny Depp did a few years ago. Parts of it were intense, but the kiddies are old enough to handle that. I wouldn't recommend it for younger children. I'm not even sure what it is rated. Both kiddies loved it!
How to Train Your Dragon
Big Man took Little Man to see this movie for his birthday last year. They saw it in 3D. They both loved it so much, that they took all of us to see the movie a few weeks after they had seen it. Chumlee did really good (she was less than a month old). It was a really great movie!! Little Man got it for Christmas and we have watched it several times. We also got (in the movie pack) a digital copy, so Big Man put it on my iPhone. Now the kids can watch it where ever we go.
Beezus and Ramona
We didn't see this movie in the theater, but rented it from Red Box (i LOVE red box, movies for $1 a night - can't beat that, and we usually do watch our movies the same night/day we rent them). I enjoy watching books turned into movies. This was a great movie. Rated G - so we are going to be watching it at school before the end of the year. We are in the process (at school) of reading the Ramona books. I like having the children critique the book vs the movie. Their insights are always interesting! Great movie!! Very family friendly. I highly recommend this movie. Princess was given this movie for Christmas and Big Man has put the digital copy on my iPhone as well. (i love that iphone!!)
Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader
I took Princess and two of her friends to see this movie for Princess' birthday. Great movie!! Wonderfully done - provided some excellent "talking points" for the kiddies on Christian principles and concepts. I have loved the Narnia movies. We own all 3 of them. Must see in my book!!
Marmaduke
We didn't go see or rent this movie, but it was one that Little Man wanted (and got) for Christmas. It's okay. Funny, but predictable. Good movie for the kids to watch, but not so interesting for adults.
Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief
Again, this was a Christmas gift for Princess. She had read the Percy Jackson books and (like her mother) she likes to see movies that are based on books. Not for young children. We talked with the kids about Greek Mythology and the history that the Greek gods are associated with. While we (as believers) do not hold to the Greek god beliefs, that part of history plays an part in history and it is good to have that knowledge. Our goal (as parents trying to raise our children up in the fear and admonition of the Lord) is not to keep them from the world, but to raise them with proper knowledge of the world and of the Bible. Knowledge that is filtered through the Bible. This movie allowed us an opportunity to have some good discussions with our children on this matter.
Despicable Me
GREAT MOVIE!!!!! We saw this in 3D in the theater. It was awesome!!!! So many great parts. A movie that we have enjoyed watching over and over. We gave it to Little Man for Christmas and we have a digital copy - soooooo, this movie is also on my iPhone. We all loved this movie. Even Chumlee enjoys the minions.
MegaMind
Little Man was given this movie for Easter. It's funny and I don't mind watching it over and over. That's how I rate some kids movies - if I can tolerate watching it over and over again!
Tangled
This was in Chumlee's Easter basket. We have watched it several times. Chumlee really likes it. Really, she does. It is a bit of a musical and she enjoys the music. This was a good movie. I recommend this one, too.
I think that's it for kids movies. Maybe I'll get around to a post on grown-up movies soon.

I have only seen Alice in Wonderland, Despicable Me, Narnia, MegaMind and Tangled out of those. The kids have seen all the other ones I think. Their Dad takes them to movies sometimes when I have to work. Good reviews! :)
Hope all is well.
